Possibility of Change to IL Tests

News

Illinois is one of several states in the US that requires its public high school students take a college entrance exam, such as the SAT or ACT, in order to graduate. Since 2016, that test has been the SAT. However, Illinois’ contract with College Board is set to expire June 30th, and, if recent reporting is correct, may lapse entirely in favor of Illinois signing a new contract with ACT, which was Illinois’ state exam for 15 years prior to 2016.

It’s not yet certain if Illinois will follow through and make this decision to revert back to the ACT. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available. However, if ACT does become the new Illinois mandated test, it is certainly major news for Illinois students and educators alike.
